Equity and bias monitoring checklist
Required for every high-stakes agent; recommended for any student-facing agent.
Before launch
- Groups to monitor are named (e.g., first-generation, disabled, international, working, underrepresented students)
- Outputs are tested across those groups
- Interface meets WCAG and supports needed languages
- Students without the agent are not disadvantaged
During operation
- Outcomes and escalation rates are reported by group
- Human override rates are reviewed for patterns
- Students can report harm and get a human response
- Human support capacity is protected, not reduced
When gaps appear
- Threshold that triggers review
- Who decides on remediation
- Remediation taken and date
